A LOCAL businessman in Maprik, East Sepik has called on MP John Simon to engage local skilled people to carry out development plans.
Businessman David Kwamilon is a qualified rural development administration and management consultant and a planner by profession.
He said the district must use a bottom-up approach.
Kwamilon was heavily involved in the Maprik rice development plan project from 1991 to 1994.
“I planned the project and I implemented it,” he said.
“I did the bottom-up planning as well as the five-year rolling and implementation plan for Wosera-Gawi district,” Kwamilon said.
“Now we have the Wewak Urban LLG. The district should do a Urban LLG plan which would require boundaries survey.”
He said the district must engage people with planning qualifications. He said the district’s five-year development plan was good but should be run by qualified people.
“I am in the district so our five LLG presidents, as well as our good MP, are most welcome to come see me for technical advice on planning,” he said.
