Engan charged with misuse
The National, Tuesday July 22nd, 2014
THE coordinator of the failed Enga Chicken Factory appeared in the Lae District Court charged with 26 counts of misappropriating K4.3 million belonging to Wabag district.
He has been detained at the Biumo jail after his bail application was rejected.
Arrangements are being made to transport Josiah Nathan, a civil engineer by profession, to Baisu jail in Western Highlands.
He is now scheduled to appear before the Wabag District Court on Aug 11 in Enga. Enga provincial police commander Acting Supt George Kakas told The National on Saturday that Nathan was arrested in Lae last Tuesday.
Kakas said that K4.3 million was part of the K18 million belonging to the district that allegedly went missing between May and June of 2012, during the national election.
He said the national fraud squad and criminal investigation department from Enga investigated the missing money which led to the arrest of Nathan.
