TWO political rivals from Enga province have pledged to put aside their differences and work together.
Governor Peter Ipatas and Member for Laiagam-Porgera electorate Philip Kikala shook hands in public in Laiagam on Sept 14 and declared “everything was behind them now”.
The reconciliation took place during the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Laiagam Primary School.
Former councillor for Laiagam town ward 19 in the Laiagam local level government council, Russel Kuri, who was present during the celebration, told The National  in Mt Hagen that hundreds of people present were happy with the reconciliation.
Mr Kuri said Laiagam was seeing changes with big impact projects like re-building of Laiagam jail, setting up mini hydro, big pyrethrum project, upgrading of Laiagam health centre, construction of West Enga Secondary School, renovation of police barracks, construction of district court house, construction of council chamber  and re-opening of Laiagam airstrip.
