A consultant company has come on board to provide job opportunities for civil engineering students from the University of Technology in Lae at different projects in the country.
Director of JBS Consulting Engineers Justin Saribu said he had 25 engineers under his training programme and needed seven more.
Saribu, who was once a civil engineering student at University of Technology (Unitech) in Lae, is managing the sealing of the four-lane road from Kagamuga Airport to Togoba in Mt Hagen.
He told The National that Unitech’s civil engineering department always wanted final-year students to do 20 weeks of practical training before they graduated.
“If the students don’t do industrial training, they will definitely fail their subject,” Saribu said.
“That is why I am providing the opportunity for them to do their practical and gain experience.
“I have 25 engineers under my training programme and need at least seven more undergraduate civil engineers, second or third year interns, until 2019.”
He said they must be local from Central, Milne Bay, West Sepik, East Sepik, Madang, West New Britain and East New Britain.
