Engineering firm takes up backing women’s snooker

THROUGH sports, everyday issues regarding women in the society can be solved according to general manager of Agara Engineering Ltd Paul Charlaff.

He stressed his company’s concerns over the large number of issues arising daily regarding the abuse of women and spoke strongly about empowering youths and women during a cheque presentation for the National Women’s Snooker Titles at the Port Moresby Country Club.

“It is a real privilege to be able to come on board as major sponsors to help support women in sports especially in this tournament that features a group of dynamic women in sport,” Charlaff said.

The newly established engineering company is the new sponsors for the women’s snooker titles with a K15,000 sponsorship for the event on May 30 in Port Moresby.

Also, coming on board as silver sponsors are distiller Vitis Industries and clothing retailer Whisper PNG.

PNG Billiards & Snooker Association vice-president Roger Wilson thanked outgoing event sponsors, Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd for their seven years of support and commended Agara Engineering for taking up the committment.
