Enough cover after player exodus, says Morris

LAE City coach Bob Morris says he has the depth to cover for the departure of 10 senior players, including skipper Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba.
Morris told The National yesterday that the new-look side had a good balance of quality in attack and defence as they look to maintain their dominance in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League.
“I have Nigel Malagian and Thomas Yagum who can turn defence into attack,” he said.
“I also have Felix Komolong and Philip Steven who can provide long or diagonal passes to our attackers.
“So to be honest, I really don’t see a vacuum created by our former forwards Raymond and Nigel.
“From what I see, it’s good opportunity for the upcoming players who really want to gain exposure and express their God-given talents on the big stage and I have confidence in them.
“I also have Emmanuel Simon, Jacob Sabua , Emmanuel Airem, Joshua Oscar, Junior Albert, Ernest Gwaiteb, Abdias (Aguirre) and Gustine (Iccaza) – the two Ecuadorians can really finish off.
“We have created a good combination from between our defence and attack.”
Morris said City – who are second on the ladder – were confident of finishing the season well at the resumption of the competition, which has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He said City would not let their fans and their sponsor Lae Biscuit Company down.

  • when you talk too much of OLD players leaving the club by providing your lousy explanation of whether you need them or not or what so ever, it depicts how wary you are to run the club, Just keep your cake hole shut and put a best performance thereafter before you come out publicly to say this and that and whatsoever…Looks like you a someone who talk too much…you qualification is still under question because of being too worried, Mr. Morris..
