PARENTS planning to enrol their children in any of the teachers’colleges in Jiwaka have been urged to take them to colleges recognised by the Education Department.
Provincial education adviser Ervin Us said colleges and privately run institutions were popping up everywhere in the province and Highlands region.
He said during a senior education management conference in Lae last month that the department did not recognise Jiwaka, Nondugl, Gelu or Kindengteachers colleges in Jiwaka.
He said that the Education Department only recognised the Melanesian Nazarene Teachers’ College as a registered college in Jiwaka.
He said that Highlands education officers agreed that no teaching position would be given to teachers coming out from the colleges not registered with the Education Department.
He said when they graduated their diplomas in teaching would not be signed by the education secretary.
“To avoid such things, you should register in approved teachers colleges.
