TEAM Chimbu is embarking on major fundraising drive, a corporate dinner, to raise funds for the 5th PNG Games in Kokopo, East New Britain.
Businessman Steven Kilage was tasked by provincial administrator Joe Kunda Naur to solicit support from corporate companies in both Chimbu and Port Moresby and around the country to support the fundraising.
The dinner is set for May 18 at Mt Wilhelm Tourist Hotel and a table of  10 is going for K2,000.
Kilage said the maximum target for the fundraising was K300,000.
Team Chimbu is hoping to send more than 200 sportsmen and women to represent the limestone province in Kokopo.
Kilage is no stranger to the sporting circles.
He is the number one advocate of Youthlink programme in the highlands region as programme manager.
He has been conducting various sports, church and community oriented social programme to assist unemployed youths in the region.
His support through Youthlink has reached out to the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, to Mumeng in Morobe and Madang.
Though it is a difficult task, Kilage said with the support of his committee Team Chimbu could achieve the target.
He said a similar fundraising was also planned for Port Moresby which would be organised by him, Dr Peter Kora and Paul Siwi.
The Kundiawa fundraiser will coincide with the launching of annual district and provincial youth in sports carnival.
Many athletes taking part in the carnival would be vying for spots in Team Chimbu for the PNG Games.
