Envoy keen on helping grow tourism industry: PNG has plenty to offer

The Korean Embassy has expressed its interest to see tourism grow in PNG as it has a big potential.
Korean Ambassador to PNG Kymgu Kang said the country was filled with many exciting and colourful experiences that the world had yet to get a glimpse of, adding that PNG had a lot to offer tourists.
“As ambassador, I am very much interested in promoting the relationship in the area of tourism,” he said.
“When I look around this country, you have huge potential in terms of something to see, something to do and something to eat.
“Many Koreans are eager to understand Papua New Guinean culture.
“I was impressed by the diversity and frankness of the people.
“Last year during Apec, it was a good moment for us Koreans to understand Papua New Guinea.”
Kang, who has been to Kavieng, Chimbu, Eastern Highlands and Rabaul, described his experiences as a one of a kind cultural adventure that he wished many outsiders could experience.
“Last year I went to Gembogl, in Chimbu. It was fantastic. The people there greeted me with my Korean flag. It was very touching.”
Kang said that tourism was among a few areas of the economy of Papua New Guinea that the embassy was keen to work with PNG.
