UNITED States Ambassador to PNG Erin McKee was in Lae, Morobe, to meet with its provincial administration and visit businesses and institutions to know how her country could help develop the province.
McKee met with Governor Ginson Saonu on arrival yesterday and discussed his plans for the province and how the US could lend its support.
Saonu told McKee that her visit was a blessing for Morobe.
He also outlined his priorities for the province including education, infrastructure, law and order and other economic activities.
Saonu said Morobe’s five highways were a priority for his administration which needed to be fixed to connect the people in the rural areas.
McKee said her government could assist through technical support.
She said it was critical to travel out of Port Moresby to other provinces to learn and experience the country and see how they could assist in development.
She said the US-PNG electrification programme and security partnership were areas she was focusing on as
well as education exchange programmes.
McKee toured Laga Industries as well as other companies and visited the University of Technology where she talked with Vice-Chancellor Dr Ora Renagi about a student and staff exchange programme.
