THE late Sir Tore Lokoloko was yesterday remembered fondly by those who knew him as they paid their respects to the former governor-general.
Sir Tore died earlier this month, aged 82, and his funeral will be held tomorrow.
His body laid in state at the Government House yesterday and among those who came to see him were foreign mission representatives and government officials.
Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio and Lady Esmie, Malaysian High Commissioner Datin Seri Blanche Olbery and Defence Force commander Brig-Gen Francis Agwi were among those present.                                                                          There was a notable absence of MPs, who were occupied by the parliamentary sitting.
Longtime steward Simeon Midiwe, 40, spoke highly of Sir Tore.
He described him as a man with a good humour.
From Iokea in Gulf, Sir Tore entered politics in 1972.
He is survived by his wife Lady Lalahaia, 11 children, 48 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.
