THE government, donor agencies and business houses have pumped a lot
of money into HIV/AIDS prevention over the years.
Yet the number of HIV/AIDS patients keeps on rising.
Why is this still happening when we are conducting awareness programmes?
What is the root cause of HIV/AIDS?
The spread of HIV/AIDS is very alarming.
The government must find out what is the main cause of HIV/AIDS.
I have a list of suspects which I am sure our healthcare workers can easily expand on.
They are night clubs, hostels, beer clubs, cinemas, urban drift, unemployed youths and domestic violence.
If we want to reduce and ultimately eradicate HIV/AIDS, then we have to get rid of the root cause.
We can start by banning alcohol.
We need to have alternative strategies to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic in PNG.
