Erima residents to get clean water
The National, Monday July 28th, 2014
RESIDENTS of Erima Wildlife in the National Capital District will soon have access to clean water following the launching of a K200,000 project at the weekend.
The water supply project is part of the K800,000 presented to Eda Ranu last month for funding of water projects in the North–East electorate by local MP Labi Amaiu.
“I have played my part as a member but the community must say thank Eda Ranu for placing the trust in my leadership and for bringing the water to the community,” Amaiu said.
He told residents that before the launching there was an intensive negotiation that took place between his office and Eda Ranu management which had persuaded Eda Ranu to bring water to the community.
He said a lot of the areas in the electorate were blacklisted by Eda Ranu because of attitude problem and illegal connections.
Amaiu said a committee was formed from the three zones of the Erima Wildlife community to take responsibility and look after the services.
Leaders from each zone also gave speeches expressing their gratitude to Amaiu and the management of Eda Ranu.
Community leader Peter Pyawa said he cried for water since he came to the community in 1990.
He said women were the ones who were burdened with the trouble of carrying containers to look for water and that would finally come to an end.
The projects include areas such as ATS water supply phase one and two, 8-Mile, Erima community and Erima Wildlife.
