A MAN who escaped from the Mt Hagen police cells in April surrendered on Tuesday.
He was arrested and charged for assault on April 10.
However, with the help of the Community Based Correction (CBC) group and the Jiwaka Ex-prisoners Association he surrendered to the police.
Noki had called the team leader of CBC and the Jiwaka Ex-prisoners Association Pastor Moses Kerua at Baisu and told him that he decided to surrender.
Noki’s cousin brother Jackie Kitan who is also a member of the Mt Hagen police mobile squad helped to bring him (Noki) to the police station.
Kerua said CBC and Jiwaka Ex – prisoners  Association were the two organisations that helped in returning escapees to the law and setting up rehabilitation programmes for them.
Kerua said so far they have carried out several life changing activities.
Kerua said such people need to be encouraged and educated to find a decent life.
