MORE than 70 operations and maintenance trainees left for Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, last Saturday to undergo advance skills training.
Esso Highlands Ltd (EHL) managing director Peter Graham said the 77 students would be trained at the Instep training facility on the east coast of Malaysia.
“The students, 21 females and 56 males, have done the basic skills training programme in PNG and will go for a year’s training in Malaysia,” he said.
“The facility is used by ExxonMobil’s Malaysian affiliate to train its staff along with providing oil and gas training to other nationalities around the world.
“The trainees will have access to some of the best training facilities available in the world.”
Graham said they were the second batch of trainees to undergo advanced training after the first group returned from Canada last December.
He added that EHL was proud of the trainees’ achievements and encouraged them to make use of the opportunity to work, learn and enjoy a different culture.
