EU gives K24mil to help war against family, sexual violence
THE European Union (EU) will provide a grant of K24 million for civil societies and non-governmental organisations to access and implement their projects and programmes.
This was said by head of cooperation for the EU delegation in PNG, Mateja Peternelj.
Peternelj announced this during the opening of a three-day national consultation workshop on family and sexual violence (FSV) in Port Moresby last week.
“Some of the issues that confronts PNG are issues that the European Union is also concerned about, like the issues on gender-based violence and family and sexual violence,” she said.
“Those are fundamental human rights issues and the EU is committed to support PNG to address them,” Peternelj said.
She said funds could be accessed through submission of proposals.
Advertisements will be placed in the media and on the EU website.
