SEVEN Association of Professional Evaluators members will, for the first time, attend the Australasian Evaluators Society International Conference in Adelaide this week, thanks to a grant through AusAID’s economic and public sector programme.
Nervous and excited about the challenge, the seven members are determined to share and expand on evaluation techniques in the PNG context.
Department of Transport programme officer Jamila Koyapo is one of the seven evaluators.
Koyapo said: “There is a lack of understanding of monitoring and evaluation in my sector, so I am looking forward to broadening my knowledge and bringing it back to improve the work that we are doing.
“When the government and donor agencies build roads, we would like to show how physical progress is bringing social benefits and impacting on the lives of the people.”
The other members include Ombudsman Commission officer Augustine Grimbai,  Department of Justice and Attorney-General Jenny Yagindey, Economic and Public Sector programme Regina Palek, Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Delilah Koja, Department of National Planning and Monitoring Gertrude Kilepak and Department of Transport Kila Tau.
The Australasian Evaluation Society International Conference is being held from Aug 27-31.
