THE Port Moresby Cancer Relief Society and Pacific MMI Insurance Ltd have teamed up to host the 2013 Pink Ribbon Brunch aimed at raising awareness on breast cancer.

The event will be held in Port Moresby on Oct 30 to educate people on the effects of breast cancer on women.

A spokesperson for the society thanked the company for sponsoring the Pink Ribbon Brunch for the third year. The brunch has the theme “Prevention and early detection can save a life”.

“Pacific MMI is the largest medical insurer in Papua New Guinea, thus, it is taking a lead in terms of social responsibility through initiatives such as sponsoring the event,” the spokesperson said.

“The event ensures that this year’s message reaches a wider population and raises this important awareness.

“It is not only women who are affected by breast cancer. There are partners and families who would be left without their wives and mothers.”

The society and the company invite people to helping raise awareness and learn about ways to prevent and detect the disease early.

Some corporate bodies have agreed to sponsor the brunch.

The silver sponsors are Moore Printing, DHL, Patrick’s Transport, City Pharmacy Limited and PNGFM.

The platinum sponsors are House of Gemini, Coral Sea Hotels, Air Niugini, Bank South Pacific, Brian Bell and Montina Ltd.
