THE Australian Federal Police have given evidence at the resumption of the National Court trial of businessman Eremas Wartoto on allegations of misappropriating K7.9 million belonging to the State.
Federal agent Anthony Glen Mala, who executed two search warrants on the defendant’s company premise, Travel Car Cairns, and residential address in Cairns, appeared as a State witness before Justice George Manuhu yesterday.
He had acted on the search warrants after the State requested for assistance to gather evidence in the proceedings against the accused.
The State alleged that an invoice requesting the remaining 15 per cent payment of a K7.9 million contract awarded to Wartoto’s company, Sarakolok West Transport, for the rehabilitation of the Kerevat National High School, was faxed to the Department of National Planning and Monitoring.
