A FORMER policeman has been arrested for allegedly stealing a mobile phone and a boom box from a man and sold them last week
Gerehu station commander Hanson Tokally said the policeman who used to work at the police station was sacked in 2017 because of allegations made against him.
He was detained at the Boroko police station last week.
“I have been telling him not to come to the station. He came without my knowledge and followed officers on duty around and caused trouble,” Tokally said.
The complainant was standing on the roadside at Gerehu Stage 2 when a police vehicle with seven officers on board stopped and told him to get in.
They allegedly took his phone worth K3,000 and a K300 boom box and detained him and others in the cell.
On his release, he discovered that his phone and boom box had been sold.
Tokally warned that there were some sacked officers going around pretending to be still in the constabulary.
