Ex-dean charged with abuse of office, cyber harassment

THE University of PNG pro vice-chancellor and former dean of the law school appeared in the Waigani Committal Court yesterday charged with abuse of office and cyber harassment. The charges were based on allegations that Prof Mange Matui, from Karau in Angoram, East Sepik, had asked a university staff (name withheld) to have sex with him and later sent intimidating and harassing text messages to her.
Police prosecutor Constable Shellian Pius told the court that investigations were still ongoing.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar adjourned the case to July 4 for another mention.
