PNG Men’s Basketball League grand finalists Exodus were give a fright by a relatively young Moresby West Jokers side at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex on Tuesday night.

Exodus pipped Jokers 90-87 in the round three challenge and lost by the same margin to champions Moni Plus Tamaraws.

Jokers young guards Daniel Aila Kone and Alu Pundu failed to pot important free throws that could have won them the thriller.

It showed the pressure took its toll on the two youngsters.

Exodus, now coached by former PNG guard Moses Koiri, returned to the indoor complex quietly but big timers the Muri brothers – Dia, Apia, Purari – Slieve Mohu and Peter Davani laid the foundation against an opposition minus the Elavo brothers Harold and Joe.

Exodus’ Apia (Muri) scored a season’s high 27 points supported by younger brother Purari’s 12 and Moses Lune’s 10, while Aila Kone 21, Pundu 18 and Aila Polo 16 had double figures for the Jokers.
