AN expatriate, who allegedly touched the buttocks of a woman in a hotel on Manus Island last month, has been granted a bail of K15,000 by the National Court.
Justice Ivoa Geita in granting bail to Terry Shane Geddes, 59, from Brisbane, Queensland, ordered the accused not to leave Manus Island until the case was determined.
Geddes’s passport was surrendered to the National Court registry.
He is an employee of Paladin Security and was charged with sexual touching. Police allege that Geddes grabbed a 23-year-old woman’s buttocks and genital area at Seadler Bay Hotel on March 19.
Geddes appeared for his first mention before senior provincial Magistrate Ben Kome at the Lorengau Committal Court on Wednesday. He is also facing another charge of sexual touching involving another woman. Manus police commander Chief Inspector David Yapu said nobody was above the law, including foreigners.

  • i have known this man Terry Geddes since 1983 and despite of what he has supposed to of done which is not a good thing at allhe is still human and he also has rights too. He is entitled to have a Lawyer and no body from Australia has offered any help to Terry Geddes to my knowledge at all, He should be able to have someone on his side, in the way of as i said a Lawyer or Barrister from Australia, or even the government to bring him back to Australia, he has now served nearly 14 months, his family and friends are also concerned for his Mental and physical health status and it is just unfair that this is happening to him.To my knowledge he has not even seen any one from the Australian consulate to even talk to him about this.
