Expatriate arrested on firearms charge

 AN Australian expatriate was arrested and charged with possessing unlicenced firearms, National Capital District Metro Supt Andy Bawa says.

Bawa said police were carrying out an eviction order to remove occupants at 7-Mile in Port Moresby on July 3 when the expatriate arrived and argued with the police personnel.

The officers later discovered and confiscated a shot-gun and a pistol in his possession.

The expatriate was taken for questioning and arrested and charged.

He is out on bail and is waiting for his court appearance.
