Constitutional Law Reform Commission Secretary, Dr Eric Kwa is asking people to take part in the consultations it is carrying out to review the Organic Laws.

He said the commission had no views on the consultations but changes could be made with contributions from people.

“Therefore, we want as many people as possible to take part in these consultations,” he said.

“The people have until October this year to do consultation with us.”

When giving an update into the review of the Organic Laws in Port Moresby yesterday, Kwa told the officers taking part in the inquiry to work as a team.

He said the main aim of the meeting was to brief commissioners on how processes would be conducted and open discussions on the type of issues that could be raised during consultation.

“The government has given CLRC four pillars as our guide for the review and the pillars or areas to look into are political, legal, administrative and financial,” he said.

CLRC deputy secretary Isaiah Chilion, said an advanced team had already been sent out to three areas in the Highlands region to pave the way for the consultation.

Chilion said there would be three teams and the first team under a commissioner would do consultation in Eastern Highlands and Chimbu.

“The second team will do consultation in Western Highlands, Enga and Jiwaka, while the third team will be in Southern Highlands and Hela. All the teams will be headed by commissioners of the CLRC enquiry commission,” he said.
