THE Papua New Guinea Tourism Industry Association’s Lukim PNG NAU exposition will create an opportunity for networking, president Alois Mateos says.
“It’s an opportunity to network among our industry operators like hotels, guesthouse owners and tour guides,” he said.
“Travel agents and wholesalers from overseas countries will attend the expo and look at what we have on offer that can be sold abroad.”
Mateos said the Tourism Promotion Authority, through its representative offices around the world, would bring overseas stakeholders to meet with local small-medium enterprises (SMEs) who were involved in tourism.
“We bring them together so that they can meet and start making network connections to discuss how to improve the service and standards of the tourism industry,” he said.
“We are trying to lift the standard our local tourism industry to meet the international market requirements.”
He said local SMEs would get exposure from the international organisations who would attend the event.
“Normally we have around 30 travel agents and wholesalers coming in from overseas countries from Europe, Australia, America and Japan. They will be coming from all over the world.”
