Extend hours of teaching

Letters

I ACKNOWLEDGE the tireless efforts of teachers teaching with newly established institutions such as Mapex, ITI, Kumul and so forth.
You have tried your best in delivering standard lessons to students but still need more time.
Only through human development we will tap into other development areas.
Give your best to develop your fellow citizens by providing quality education to students.
That is the only solution for development.
Don’t ignore and deprive the rights of students.
I am not satisfied with the timing of classes – only one hour period per day for six months for certificate, even three months certificate and one year for diploma.
How can you expect Grade 10 school leavers to understand the course content for the duration of the course (three months, six months, one year) with only one hour contact period per day?
The school fees are much higher than the standard of learning which is not fair.
Students are flying in from provinces to attend these newly established institution but are not receiving what they expected.
These newly established institutions are managed by fellow citizens so we expect the best quality education.
I challenge these administrations to restructure the learning standards by improving;

  • ONE hour period per day to full day classes;
  • QUALIFIED and committed teachers;
  • IMPROVE learning facilities;
  • PROVIDE quality equipment and resources;
  • DELIVERY of the full content and concepts of the lesson in a day; and,
  • PROVIDE accommodation inclusive from the school fee instead of different arrangement and payment.
