ExxonMobil PNG managing-director Andrew Barry has urged graduating University of Papua New Guinea students to have integrity in what they do.
Barry made the call when addressing the 63rd graduation of the university on Friday. “When you start work, the values that you bring to your future employer will be as important as the degree that you have in your hand,” Barry said.
“Integrity makes us more responsible, because it reminds us that our actions and decisions have more implications and lasting consequences on our families, communities and the nation.
“Committing yourself to a life of integrity of reminding yourself of that commitment can give you the strength you need.”
Barry said integrity determined one’s reputation.
“For us at ExxonMobil, our reputation is more important that the money that we make in our organisation,” he said.
“It is not just about the results that we achieve, but about how we achieve those results.
“Integrity is critical.
“As you go forward, working in different employers and opportunities. I hope you take that into consideration that what you do is important for yourself,
“It is important for your wantoks and it is important for the development of the country.
“Love what you do, do it with a passion, do it with integrity. If you do that, nothing will go wrong.”
