Fa’arado to boost Hekari Utd campaign

SOLOMON Islands top striker Henry Fa’arado is among five other high profile players PNG champions club Hekari United have secured on a short-term deal in a bid to bolster the club’s remaining campaign in the O-League finals.
Fa’arado and fullback Eddie Ngaita slipped into PNG quietly on Saturday afternoon and had the chance to watch the final double header of National Soccer League (NSL) match between Niupetro Fox and Gelle Hills in Port Moresby.
The other players who were already in PNG were midfielders Alick Mamae, Stanley Waita and national defender Gideon Omokirio.
Fa’arodo said he was happy to be back to play for Hekari, saying he was informed about the proposal from the club only last week.
“I only learned about their interest in signing me up three days ago,” Fa’arodo said.
Hekari United team manageress Vonnie Kapi Natto yesterday afternoon confirmed with The National that the Solomon Islands players were here to support Hekari for the O-League match against Tafea.
Mrs Kapi Natto said she had to look to her home country after her trusted PNG players failed to live up to expectation. 
“What really disappointed me was that our PNG players were off line during our absence and I needed to recruit to fill the spots,” he said.
All five players said they were happy to help out Hekari in their O-League quest and, hopefully, they can repay for the trust shown in them by the franchise owners, Kapi Natto and his wife, Vonnie.
Mrs Kapi Natto said the players were all Solomon Islands national players with Gideon Omokirio as the captain.
Meanwhile, Hekari’s next game is against the Vanuatu club champions Tafea FC, who are currently sitting on top of Pool B after round one with seven points.
With the inclusion of Fa’arodo and the other three players in their line-up, Hekari are confident of bagging the three points and move from third place to equal the ladder leaders with two games in hand.
Fa’arodo said he hoped to play at least one game with Hekari United and see whether they would still want him to play for the rest of their O- League campaign.
Tafea are expected to arrive tomorrow via Solomon Islands for Saturday’s match at Lloyd Robson Oval.
