THE old control tower at the former Jackson Airport will soon be remodelled to become the National Airports Corporation’s headquarters.
Managing director Joe Kintau said this would be called NAC House and would accommodate all NAC operations.
He said the office space they currently occupied at the domestic terminal would soon be converted into departure lounges once the Airport City Development concept began.
Another development happening next to the control tower on a  property  between TNT and Avis companies.
This land has been leased for two years to a company called Deugro.
Deugro is a company whose core business is project freight forwarding, and focuses predominantly on industries related to oil, gas and energy, power generation, mining and metals and infrastructure projects.
In PNG, they are based in Lae and Port Moresby.
Kintau said the company was building a lay down area for the LNG construction pipes to be airlifted to Komo on Russian airplanes for the PNG LNG project.
He also refuted those allegations that they were being paid K1 million in leases by the company were not true as the figures were less than that.
He said the monies coming from this project would be diverted into other airport operational costs.
