SOME tough and exciting encounters are expected in the Fairfax Volleyball Association at the Papua New Guinea Education Institute grounds this weekend.
The season proper competition will kick off tomorrow at 9am with Uni and Patriots opening proceedings in the men’s division in court one, while Raukele Two will take on Snipers in the women’s division.
Association vice president Koavea Karulaka said this weekend’s games would be seriously taken by the management to select their best volleyballers for the national championship in November.
In the main challenge, Raukele will be up against Uni on court one.
Raukele players were given a big challenge by Vanama, from the rival NCD Volleyball Association during an exhibition match at the Filipino Association of PNG hall at Gordon last Sunday. Tomorrow’s clash with Uni will see whether the Raukele men still have the fight in them.
