PNG Power Limited has blamed a transmission fault line for the power outages in Madang last week.

Chief Executive Officer John Tangit has apologised to Madang customers saying the power cuts in Madang town were caused by a fallen power line.

He said power supply to Madang town was interrupted at 2.30am last Tuesday after a transmission power line at Kavavar market about 80                                     km from Madang fell.

He said PNG Power teams checked sections of the transmission line but could not locate the fault on Tuesday because of the rough terrain and bad weather.

“Both aerial and land patrols continued the next day and located the fallen power line,” he said.
