A 68-year-old father from Altai Wai village in Anglimp, Jiwaka, died when a branch fell on him.
The incident happened on Tuesday during stormy weather as the man was going home.
John Kunjip, from Kuli Telgiamp tribe, was visiting his daughter at Anglimp.
According to a relative, Mallot Kolma, the man left Anglimp at about 3pm to head home when he was caught in strong winds and rain.
Kolma said Kunjip was hit by a dry yar branch on his head and was rushed to Mt Hagen General Hospital but proclaimed dead on arrival.
Kolma described the tragedy as unusual.
“We have never seen such things before in our lives,’’ he said.
He said when people faced unnatural deaths like thisit was shocking.
Meanwhile a businessman was in critical condition at the Mt Hagen General Hospital after a similar incident.
Kusumb Wakandi was hit by a dry branch at his Paia Kona village, in upper Neblyier, last week.
Kolma urged people not to walk around during the rainy season and warned that they should not build houses close to trees and urged them to take precautional measures at all times.
