Families told to forgive, sacrifice, pray

CHILDREN need to understand that they exist on the sacrifices of their parents, a Catholic Priest says.
Fr Anzac Nobert said this on Sunday during his sermon on the Holy Family feast day celebration at the Gordon Police Chaplaincy.
Fr Nobert said in order for all families to grow in peace and positivity, there had to be forgiveness, sacrifices and prayers.
“God is so full of love and sacrifice,” he said.
“In order to experience healing and grow with success in a family, the members need to make sacrifices. They must be ready to forgive each other when they are at fault and pray.”
Fr Nobert said many times in families, some people refused to admit things when they were wrong, because they did not want to be defeated.
“Life does not mean that you know everything,” he said.
“Sometimes people get angry over little things without seeing the good side of them.
“Especially children: We pretend that we know everything when actually we do not because we do not want to be corrected of the wrong that we did.”
Fr Nobert urged the children and family members to remove their selfishness and self-preservation in order experience peace and success.
“Parents must start to practice forgiveness in your own house, so that your children will grow knowing how to forgive,” Fr Nobert said.
He said forgiveness happened when people realised that they were human and that they were not perfect in God’s eyes.
“Children: We owe a lot to our parents for their sacrifices and care,” he said.
“Let us all start with small things at home to make a change in this New Year.”
