Family of flag-designer thanks UYEP

Papua

THE woman who designed the national flag, Susan Hareho Karike, from Mei village in Gulf was recently laid to rest in Port Moresby – thanks to the members of the National Capital District Commission Urban Youth Employment project (UYEP).
The project management and youths helped with her funeral at the 9-Mile Cemetery.
Her son Philip Huhume thanked the members for their assistance and said it was a great relief to his family.
“The NCDC UYEP’s assistance was a great relief to my family and I would not have afforded to lay my late mother to rest. And the tomb they did was a big thing to us,” Huhume said.
Project manager Tom Gilis said the estimated cost of the project’s assistance to the funeral was K25,000.
