A FAMILY in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, welcomed the New Year by feasting on a pig worth K1,000.
Their good fortune was thanks to New Guinea Fruits Company – the producer of the fruit wine Live Lave.
The company had offered a live pig as the major prize in its Christmas and New Year promotion during December.
Winner Dennis Yamai said he bought two packs of Live Lave from the Kend Fresh Liquor Distributors in Mt Hagen in early December to enter the draw.
He said he had not expected to win and was surprised when his name was announced as the winner at the end of last month.
“I thank New Guinea Fruits for making it possible for me and my family to celebrate the New Year with a feast of a pig worth K1,000,” Yamai said.
The winning prize was presented to Yamai in the presence of his family members at the New Guinea Fruit Company premises at the old PNG Motors workshop, near the Mambu market section, of the Highlands Highway.
While handing over the live pig, New Guinea Fruit Company national sales manager Michael Lapauve said the promotion was to give a chance to ordinary people who were regular drinkers of the Live Lave product to enter into a lucky draw to win a live pig for Christmas and New Year.
“At every outlet, we sell the product, the customers enter the
lucky draw and Yamai, from Mt Hagen, happened to be the
winner,” he said.
“I congratulate Yamai and his family for the win and thank all those who participated.”
He said the promotion was one of the first for the company for the Live Lave brand.
