Family gives to school

Main Stories

MORE than 500 books have been donated to a school library in Central by a family in Australia through the Papua New Guinea Book Foundation.
Foundation coordinator Nathaniel John said the books were sourced from the foundation to be used by schools in rural areas to help children develop their reading.
The family of Stephen Howes arrived in Port Moresby for a holiday.
They joined the foundation delivering the books to the Bisiatabu Adventist Elementary School and Primary School at Sogeri, Central.
Parents of the 250 children were told that learning should start at home and it was the responsibility of parents to teach their children how to read and write.
Howes and his family encouraged children and parents to read books together at home.
