Family values need to be prioritised
The National, Monday March 17th, 2014
NEGLIGENCE on couples’ part in proper parenting has resulted in many shattered homes.
I would like to raise awareness of the significance of the family unit.
The first godly institution ordained and blessed is the family unit.
Many people are obsessed with material things that they have failed to realise that material wealth cannot substitute the family unit.
Like a corn seed that bears fruits if cherished and nourished well by the farmer, a strong family unit is built on spending time with our family and giving adequate love and attention.
It is very sad nowadays to see so many homes operating with only a single parent or the absence of both parents simply because people make gods of lifeless things, idolising money, career, prestige or even pleasure.
None of these things can replace a family unit or a family member.
The disintegration of social order in the society and the rise in anti-social behaviour of youths and schoolchildren today will intimidate our law and order system if dysfunctional states of homes and family units are not properly addressed.
Are we investing quality time and showing affection for our family?
Pause for a moment and think.
