Family walks to raise awareness on cancer
The National, Thursday 25th October, 2012
OCTOBER is the month when women affected with breast cancer use the opportunity to create awareness.
The family of Iga Amini Vagi organised a walkathon to raise funds for their mother who is currently receiving treatment in Brisbane as well as to raise awareness.
Yesterday, was International Pink Ribbon Day.
The Port Moresby Cancer Relief Society’s theme is “prevention and early detection can save a life”.
This commitment to Pink Ribbon Day will ensure that the theme gets the message across to as wide an audience as possible, and raise that vital awareness level.
It is very important not only to women but everyone that this awareness is raised and continued to be discussed in various forum.
It is not only women who are affected by breast cancer.
Partners and families would forever be without their wives and mothers, wondering if early detection in their cases would have made a difference.
