Fare rise unfair

Letters

CERTAIN buses from Porebada village are charging K5 and not the normal K3 fare for everyday commuters who travel that route.
The village lies west of Port Moresby.
It is less than 30 minutes’ drive from Koki bus stop if the traffic is not congested.
The sudden impact of the coronavirus has pushed certain PMV operators to charge K5.
Can the rightful authorities please look into the matter?
It is a burden to low income earners who have to dig deeper into their pockets.
To add salt to the wound, 25-seater buses are not carrying 15 passengers or less but maximum 25 passengers which is beyond the control measures imposed by the government with regards to social distancing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
It is illegal and unjust to some extent.
