CLASSES at Angoram High School in East Sepik will resume today.
Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, who visited the school last Tuesday, pledged more than K1 million to rebuild the four-in-one Grade 9 double classroom gutted by fire two weeks ago. The money, he said, would be provided by himself and his son and Angoram MP Arthur Somare.
Angoram district standards officer Philip Rofunduo said the K1.2 million would be used to rebuild the classroom.
Sir Michael also made a personal commitment of K25,000 to build a library for the school.
Rofunduo said Grade 10 students would have no problem fitting into their classrooms but the
Grade 9s would start on makeshift classrooms.
A new board of governors for the school was also appointed last Tuesday.
Police had not said anything about the burning down of the classroom.
