TWO former members of school cult groups say they do not want their children to follow what they did.

The two, who are now working in Lae, shared their experiences in secondary and national high school outside Morobe where they were boarders.

Both fathers said they would not want to see their children join such cult groups in high schools because of the  negative effects on their development.

Pali Jona has three daughters, the eldest is in Grade Six.

Jona said the cult group system was systematic, each year was classed as a generation with the ultimate goal of recruiting new members every year while maintaining their principles and beliefs.

He said keeping it a secret was taken seriously by members who swore under oaths not to reveal things especially to parents, guardians and teachers.

“Even a member with a swollen face will not report to teachers the members who beat him up for some reasons. That’s how serious being secretive can be,” Jona said.
