Fault disrupts communication lines

 TELIKOM PNG says all telephony and data services carried via PPC-1 cable from Madang to Sydney, Australia, have been disrupted due to a subsea fault. 

“The situation is beyond the control of Telikom PNG and all efforts are being made by Telikom PNG engineers in Papua New Guinea and Sydney to divert all services to alternate routes,” the entity said in a statement.  

“TPG, the operator of the PPC-1 cable have advised that the restoration time is expected to take a month.”
