Featherstone’s PNG pair to face Wakefield

FEATHERSTONE’S Papua New Guinea signings Jessie Joe Parker and Larzen Marabe will be in the starting line-up in tonight’s friendly against Wakefield Wildcats at Bigfellas Stadium.
Parker has recovered from an ankle injury he sustained in last month’s pre-season game against Hull KR.
Rovers coach Daryl Powell said: “Jessie is fit again and he needs to get some game time under his belt. He will play at five-eighth against Wakefield.
“I am looking for him to understand the structures and systems and to get his communication where it needs to be in order to control a part of the field with the attacking structure we use. It will be a good opportunity for him against Wakefield.
“Larzen will play in the centres and it will be a good hit out for him as well. I am looking for Larzen to get to understand what we are doing, particularly defensively.”
Both players were picked up by the British second division club Featherstone in the Cooperative Championship on the advice of former Kumul great Stanley Gene.
Other Kumuls playing in England include Charlie Wabo, Nicko Slain, Michael Mark, Jason Chan, Menzie Yere and Makali Aizue.
