MOORE Business Systems PNG Ltd managing director David Doig is the new president of the Employers’ Federation of PNG (EFPNG), replacing Mike Jackson.
Doig has served on the EFPNG board since 2006, and as vice-president for the past eight years.
He is currently director of the Brian Bell group and has previously served on the boards of Credit Corporation, Nasfund and the Manufacturers’ Council of PNG.
Doig acknowledged Jackson’s contribution to the EFPNG over the past five years as president.
“Mike Jackson has made a significant contribution to the Employers Federation, particularly through his involvement in agriculture, one of the largest employer sectors in the country,” he said.
“It’s an extremely challenging period for private sector employers throughout PNG at present, the Covid-19 has made sure of that.
“As PNG contemplates a move to a ‘new normal’, significant adjustments will need to be made in the workplace, and the EFPNG stands ready to assist our members, to ensure that these changes are made with the least disruption.”
Doig said he was looking forward to working with the executive and operations teams at the EFPNG.
The EFPNG was formed in 1963 to represent the interests of private sector employers.
It is represented on the Business Council of PNG, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, PNG Manufacturers Council, Rural Industries Council, the National Superannuation Board, National Tripartite Consultative Council, the National Training Council, the National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board and the Business and Commerce Sector committee of Consultative Implementation and Monitoring Council (CIMC).
EFPNG has more than 200 members.
