Female recruits get top awards

TWO female soldiers were recognised among male counterparts for their outstanding display of bravery and courage.
They were among a team of new Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) recruits who recently passed-out from Goldie Barracks Training Depot Privates Meckthild Matalaharo and Jessica Elias have both received awards for outstanding performance during an intense training which started six months ago at the training depot.
Pte Matalaharo was named the champion female soldier for 2009 and Pte Elias as the champion female shooter.
Both were awarded framed certificates with their names on it last Saturday at Goldie Barracks.
