Fence project complete, says official

THE Kandep Hospital in Enga has completed its picket fencing project which started last December.
Hospital medical superintendent Dr Robert Imambu told The National that the project cost K290,000 and was awarded to Kari Andap Building Construction Ltd funded by the Kandep development authority (DDA).
He said the 160m x 150m fencing around the perimeter of the hospital had improved its security.
“Apart from the fencing, several other health projects were funded including medical equipment procurement, construction of staff accommodation and district health facility improvement projects,” he said.
Dr Imambu said the projects were vital for the people of Kandep because a healthy population would actively contribute towards development.
He said many people were dying of curable diseases and the hospital’s focus was improving the patient experience.
“Many health workers have been living in rundown houses but never complained and were committed to saving people’s lives,” he said.
“The 10 staff houses cost the district more than K2.5 million.”
