Festival eyes world exposure

THIS year’s Bougainville Chocolate Festival aims to increase international exposure for Bougainville cocoa, an official says.
Festival co-chair and secretary for economic development Steven Tsivele said this year had seen a record number of cocoa farmers participating and growing interest from chocolate makers around the world.
While the festival will have a special focus on educating farmers with films, seminars and displays to improve cocoa production quality, it will also be fun for children and families with games, entertainment activities and chocolate tasting.
Assessment will be made by international judges. Activities include competitions for farmers, such as the Big Bean and Big Pod competitions.
The Highlight Chocolate Competition has generated record levels of interest with farmers.
