THE 5th Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture has made some people realise the importance of maintaining their culture, why they should respect the others and why neighbours should unite and restore peace and harmony.
So said Highlands region festival committee member Nicholas Ninji.
He said the event had helped people realise why they should hold on to their culture and arts while adapting to the modern lifestyle.
He said the turn-up was better than in cultural shows because it was an opportunity for Papua New Guineans to share their culture with their brothers and sisters from the Pacific Island countries.
He said the event celebrated in Mt Hagen was peaceful and hundreds turned up.
