ORO Karate Association have unified to represent the province to participate in the Karate National championship in Port Moresby.

OKA founder and president Sempai Kevin Duna said this was the first time Northern would attend with 12 talented local fighters from the three districts of Popondetta Urban, Ijivitari and Sohe.

Duna said the trip was made possible by the Northern Governor Gary Juffa, who allocated K5,000 for airfares, accommodation and meals to attend the two days event.

Duna thanked the governor for his continued support in sports development.

He said the fighters Basil Oriri, Eddie Morris, Eddie Ijike, Jarius Aidabu, Jew Daima, Jute Awalasi, Roger Bogajiwai, Hubert Ogomeni, Rocky Asina and Wesley Perembo were new comers to the national championship with the exception of Duna and Mark Charlie.

“It is interesting for us as one of our fighters Bogajiwai is deaf who is a tough contender for his division,” Duna said.

Duna was hoping that some of his fighters would be considered for selection by PNG Karate Federation executives.

They are up against NCD, Morobe, Buka and Kokopo who start as the favorites for the major honors.
